Notification issued by the government
The Punjab government has already issued a notification regarding the abolition of these vacant posts.
According to the notification, the decision forms part of the government’s ongoing rightsizing measures. Officials believe the step will help streamline the department’s administrative structure.
Decision aimed at reducing financial burden
The primary objective behind abolishing these vacant positions is to lower government expenditure.
Since the posts were already vacant, the government decided to remove them from the department’s sanctioned strength. As a result, the measure is expected to reduce the financial burden associated with maintaining unfilled positions.
The decision also reflects the government’s broader efforts to reorganise public sector departments through administrative reforms.
Officials have not announced any changes to existing employees, as the notification applies only to vacant posts.
