Shaniera Akram has dismissed false claims about the death of her husband, Wasim Akram, after AI-generated videos spread widely on social media.
Shaniera shared a recent video on Instagram showing Wasim Akram working out at a gym. In the caption, she addressed the viral rumours and confirmed that the former Pakistan captain was healthy.
She wrote that the video was recorded in response to the fake news and AI-generated clips circulating online. Moreover, she told followers that Akram was at the gym and doing well, putting an end to speculation about his health.
The rumours gained momentum after an AI-generated video falsely showed former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar announcing Akram’s death from a heart attack.
The fabricated clip quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting concern among cricket fans. However, Shaniera’s video confirmed that the claims were entirely false.
Many social media users also criticized the growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create misleading content. They accused those behind such videos of spreading misinformation to gain views and online engagement.
## Fans urge caution against AI misinformation
Following Shaniera’s post, fans wished Wasim Akram good health and praised his commitment to fitness. Many also called for stricter action against the creators of deceptive AI-generated videos.
The incident comes shortly after another AI-generated hoax falsely claimed that Tauseeq Haider and Farah Saadia had married.
As AI-generated content becomes more common, celebrities and digital experts continue to urge the public to verify information before sharing it. They warn that misleading videos can spread rapidly and create unnecessary panic.
