A Filipina woman was rescued by police in Lodhran after alleging that she suffered domestic abuse following her marriage to a Pakistani man. Authorities have initiated the matter, while further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation and any formal complaint submitted.
According to available reports, the woman had travelled to Pakistan after developing a relationship with a Pakistani national through social media. However, she later sought help after claiming she had experienced domestic violence.
The case has drawn attention because of its cross-border nature and the police response that followed the woman’s request for assistance.
Friendship Through Social Media Led to Marriage
According to reports, Rosemary, a Filipina national, became acquainted with 50-year-old Amir through social media.
Their friendship gradually developed into a relationship. Later, Rosemary embraced Islam and adopted the name Kaneez Fatima before travelling to Pakistan.
After arriving in the country, she married Amir.
Initially, the marriage reportedly proceeded without any major issues. However, the woman later alleged that she was subjected to domestic abuse, leaving her distressed.
Friend Alerted Police After Receiving Secret Call
As the situation worsened, the woman reportedly contacted a friend in Islamabad without informing those around her.
After receiving the call, the friend immediately informed the Lodhran Police and travelled to the city to assist her.
Following the information received, police launched an operation to recover the woman.
Consequently, the authorities successfully rescued her from the residence.
Personal Belongings Returned After Rescue
According to reports, the woman’s in-laws later returned her personal belongings.
The recovered items reportedly included Rs1.5 million in cash along with her jewellery.
After the recovery operation, the woman was taken to Islamabad.
Police Say Further Action Depends on Investigation
Police stated that the matter remains under investigation.
According to the authorities, any further legal proceedings will be taken after establishing the facts of the case and reviewing any formal complaint submitted by the woman.
