US President Donald Trump said on Monday that negotiations with Iran are continuing despite Tehran’s earlier claim that no discussions are taking place. He described the current diplomatic effort as Iran’s final opportunity to reach a favorable agreement with Washington.
Speaking to reporters, Trump insisted that talks are actively underway. He maintained that the negotiations began following requests from several regional countries seeking to ease tensions and encourage diplomacy.
Earlier in the day, Iranian officials denied that any negotiations were taking place with the United States. However, Trump rejected those statements and sharply criticized Iran’s leadership. He accused Tehran of sending conflicting messages while diplomatic contacts continued behind the scenes.
Moreover, Trump claimed the ongoing discussions involve mediation efforts supported by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other regional partners. According to him, those countries have encouraged both sides to remain engaged and explore a possible agreement.
The US president reiterated that Washington remains open to diplomacy if Iran accepts terms that address key concerns. However, he stressed that the current round of discussions represents Tehran’s final opportunity to secure what he called a good agreement.
Furthermore, Trump warned that time is running out for Iranian leaders to make a decision. Although he did not disclose specific details about the negotiations, he expressed confidence that diplomatic efforts are continuing despite public denials from Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran has maintained that no formal talks are taking place with the United States. The conflicting statements have created uncertainty over the actual status of the negotiations.
Nevertheless, Trump’s latest remarks indicate that Washington believes diplomatic channels remain open. The coming days are expected to determine whether the discussions produce progress or further deepen tensions between the two longtime rivals.
