A final draft agreement between the United States and Iran has reportedly been finalized through Pakistanโs mediation, with an official announcement expected within hours, according to a report by Al Arabiya.
The reported agreement includes an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. In addition, both countries have reportedly pledged not to target each otherโs military or strategic installations as part of efforts to ease tensions in the region.
Furthermore, the draft agreement outlines the creation of a joint monitoring mechanism designed to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire and support long-term regional stability. The mechanism would reportedly help both sides address violations and maintain communication during the initial stages of the agreement.
The report also stated that the draft contains guarantees for freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, one of the worldโs most critical shipping routes for global energy supplies.
Meanwhile, sanctions imposed on Iran would reportedly be lifted in phases if Tehran complies with the terms outlined in the agreement. The report added that negotiations on unresolved disputes between the two countries would begin within seven days after the agreement takes effect.
However, officials in Washington, Tehran and Islamabad have not yet issued formal confirmation regarding the reported draft agreement.
Separately, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope that Pakistanโs diplomatic engagement with Iran would help advance peace efforts. Speaking before departing for NATO foreign ministersโ talks in Sweden, Rubio said progress had been made and confirmed that Pakistani officials were expected to travel to Tehran.
Rubio also criticised NATO allies for not fully supporting the US position on Iran, while reiterating concerns over Tehranโs nuclear ambitions.
