US President Donald Trump said Washington does not need a deal with Iran to obtain enriched uranium from the country. He claimed the material remains under strict surveillance and secure control. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, he said the United States could access it immediately. Moreover, he insisted no actor could stop Washington if it chose to act. However, he stressed that no such action was necessary because the material stays “entombed” and monitored.
Iran Negotiations and Meeting Signals
Trump said he does not want to meet Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. Nevertheless, he suggested that a meeting could take place if Washington and Tehran reach a formal agreement. Furthermore, he stated he would act respectfully in such a scenario and called any possible engagement honourable.
Additionally, Trump expressed openness to dialogue and indicated he could meet if an agreement emerges. He also said he expects professional conduct from Khamenei despite regional tensions. In addition, he asserted that the United States would win the conflict with Iran either militarily or through negotiations, describing victory as inevitable for Washington in any outcome.
Furthermore, Trump warned that US forces would resume operations if American troops suffered casualties during ongoing ceasefire tensions. He referred to recent exchanges of strikes between Iran and regional targets, including incidents affecting Kuwait’s airport resulting in casualties.
Meanwhile, Trump reiterated that Washington does not require a formal agreement to secure Iran’s enriched uranium, stating it remains monitored and effectively contained he added that surveillance systems track the material. Additionally he claimed that US intelligence maintains cameras on the sites without providing further details.
Adviser Mohsen Rezaei said the draft memorandum has ambiguities requiring clarification and accused Washington of pressuring Tehran with vague terms.
