Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has revealed key display details for the upcoming iQOO 16, highlighting a major upgrade for mobile gaming and visual performance.
The company says the smartphone will become the world’s first phone with a 2K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.
iQOO unveiled the technology during a Samsung Display and iQOO screen technology event. The companies jointly developed the new display using Samsung’s 2K LEAD 2.0 OLED panel.
iQOO 16 Gets Samsung’s New M16 Material
The iQOO 16 will also become the first Android smartphone to use Samsung’s M16 luminescent material.
The partnership includes a custom display IC designed for high refresh rates. It also features a dedicated production line for iQOO flagship devices.
The display can reach 1,100 nits of manual peak brightness. Its global peak brightness reaches 2,800 nits, while local peak brightness can reach 10,000 nits.
Improved Color Accuracy and Uniformity
iQOO says the new panel covers 1.24 times the P3 color gamut. Each display will also receive individual calibration before shipping.
According to the company, color uniformity improves by 39.6%, while brightness uniformity increases by 22.3% compared with the previous generation.
iQOO also uses its own color and brightness compensation system. This technology calibrates the display at the sub-pixel level.
The company claims color accuracy of ±0.001. However, independent testing will determine how these figures translate into everyday use.
5000Hz Touch Sampling Targets Gamers
The iQOO 16 also introduces a new touch chip designed specifically for gaming.
The system supports up to 5000Hz instantaneous touch sampling and 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling.
Meanwhile, iQOO’s Q-flex control technology aims to reduce the delay between touch input and the resulting action on screen.
The company also claims a 100% first-frame brightness ratio, which it describes as an industry-leading achievement.
Advanced Dimming and Eye Protection
The iQOO 16 display includes several features designed to improve viewing comfort.
It uses three photosensitive sensors for full-area ambient light detection. The panel also supports an unpolarized natural-light display and full-brightness DC dimming.
Additionally, the screen supports up to 3300Hz PWM dimming. A dedicated gaming glare-protection mode will also help improve visibility during gameplay.
With its 2K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate and extremely high touch response, the iQOO 16 is positioning its display as a major flagship feature. Samsung’s latest OLED materials further strengthen its focus on gaming and premium visual performance.
