A devastating passenger bus accident in the Dana Sar area has claimed at least 40 lives. However, officials fear the death toll could rise further. Rescue workers are still recovering bodies from the wreckage of the ill-fated vehicle.
The passenger bus was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar when it plunged into a deep gorge. The accident occurred in the mountainous Dana Sar region, located along the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The crash took place near the boundary between Sherani district in Balochistan and Dera Ismail Khan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Consequently, authorities from both districts immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation.
Rescue Teams Continue Search in Difficult Terrain
Emergency teams and ambulances reached the accident site soon after receiving reports of the crash. Nevertheless, the challenging mountainous terrain has made rescue efforts extremely difficult.
According to officials, rescue workers have so far recovered the bodies of 24 victims from the gorge. In addition, they have rescued 10 injured passengers and shifted them for medical treatment.
Officials said several of the injured remain in critical condition. Therefore, the number of fatalities could increase in the coming hours.
Meanwhile, rescue personnel continue searching the wreckage for additional victims. Recovery operations remain underway as emergency responders work through the difficult landscape.
