The upcoming superhero film “Supergirl” promises a more relatable and emotionally complex version of the iconic DC character. Lead actor Milly Alcock shared new details during a fan event in London on Thursday. She said audiences will see a reluctant hero with humility and a rebellious spirit.
Alcock plays both Supergirl and Kara Zor-El in the film. She described the character as someone who struggles with responsibility while remaining deeply human. Consequently, the movie offers a fresh perspective on one of DC’s most recognizable superheroes.
Milly Alcock Reflects on Career Milestone
Alcock called the project the biggest experience of her acting career. The 26-year-old said filming brought both confidence and emotional challenges. However, she believes completing the movie has prepared her for future roles.
Director Craig Gillespie adapted the film from the 2021-22 comic series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” He explained that the story focuses on Kara’s flaws, trauma, and personal growth. Therefore, viewers will see a superhero facing struggles similar to ordinary people.
The story follows Kara as she joins Ruthye Marye Knoll on a dangerous space mission. Together, they hunt the pirate Krem of the Yellow Hills while rescuing Supergirl’s dog, Krypto.
Jason Momoa Teases Fan-Favorite Lobo
Jason Momoa also appears as the bounty hunter Lobo. He described playing the character as a lifelong dream inspired by his childhood comic books. Moreover, Momoa hinted that Lobo could return in future films if audiences respond positively.
“Supergirl” begins its global theatrical release on June 24. Fans expect the film to introduce a more grounded superhero while expanding DC Studios’ cinematic universe.
