Police authorities have removed a Karachi Station House Officer (SHO) after discovering his vehicle carried a fake number plate.
Yousuf Plaza SHO Waqar Awan was travelling in the vehicle when police stopped him near Artillery Maidan. According to police, Safe City cameras identified the vehicle within the Artillery Maidan police station’s jurisdiction.
Police then took Awan to Artillery Maidan police station for questioning. Authorities later handed him over to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) for further investigation.
Police Begin Investigation Into SHO
The AVLC has started investigating the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s fake registration plate. Meanwhile, police officials are examining how the officer obtained and used the suspicious number plate.
The incident has also raised concerns about officers following traffic and vehicle registration laws. However, authorities have not yet disclosed further details about the vehicle’s ownership or registration status.
Departmental Action Expected Against Officer
Police sources said the department would take further action against Waqar Awan. Officials will likely review the officer’s conduct as part of the ongoing departmental proceedings.
