The Sindh High Court has directed authorities to provide protection to a newly married couple from Jacobabad. The order came after serious allegations that relatives reacted violently to their marriage and set fire to multiple homes in the groomโs village.
The case has drawn attention due to claims of large-scale arson, threats, and ongoing fear faced by the couple. The court emphasized protection of life, dignity, and property while reviewing the petition.
Court Orders Full Protection for Newlywed Couple
During the hearing, the court ordered police to ensure security for the couple identified as Hassan Buriro and Sidra Channa. The directive specifically required protection of their โlife, honour and propertyโ.
The judge issued a written order after reviewing concerns raised about threats and violence. Additionally, the investigating officer recorded the womanโs statement inside the court premises to document her account.
The court also instructed authorities to proceed with the case according to legal procedure and submit the challan before the relevant trial court without delay.
Marriage of Choice Leads to Family Conflict
According to the coupleโs legal counsel, the marriage was conducted with mutual consent and without any external pressure on May 5. However, the marriage reportedly triggered strong opposition from family members.
The lawyer informed the court that the couple had been receiving serious threats following their decision to marry. These threats, according to the petition, escalated tensions between both families.
The situation further deteriorated when violence was allegedly reported in the groomโs native village.
Alleged Arson Attack in Jacobabad Village

Reports indicated that more than 100 houses belonging to the groomโs relatives were torched during the incident. Heavy firing was also allegedly used to create panic and fear among residents.
Although the fire caused significant material damage and destroyed property, no casualties were reported. Residents, however, faced extensive loss and displacement due to the incident.
Government Response and Legal Position
The state counsel informed the court that the government is legally bound to protect all citizens without discrimination. Authorities assured that the couple would be provided protection in accordance with the law.
The court also reiterated that law enforcement agencies must ensure safety while the case proceeds through proper legal channels. It further directed completion of investigation formalities in a timely manner.
