ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Indonesia pledged to further strengthen their bilateral defence cooperation.
Indonesian Navy Chief Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation.
Both military leaders expressed satisfaction with the existing defence ties between Pakistan and Indonesia. They also agreed to further expand cooperation in several key areas.
Defence cooperation remains a major area
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military-to-military relations through professional training, defence collaboration and joint military exercises.
Moreover, the leaders discussed ways to enhance coordination and deepen institutional links between the armed forces of both countries.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relationship with Indonesia.
He particularly highlighted the importance of closer cooperation in defence and security matters amid evolving regional challenges.
Pakistan and Indonesia have maintained close military relations and regularly engage in defence exchanges and professional activities.

Meanwhile, Admiral Muhammad Ali praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces during his visit to GHQ.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Pakistan’s armed forces toward promoting regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, the visiting naval chief’s meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir reflected the growing importance of defence cooperation between Islamabad and Jakarta.
Both sides expressed confidence that continued engagement would further strengthen bilateral military relations and support regional security.
The meeting also underscored their shared commitment to expanding defence ties through training, exercises and greater professional cooperation.
