Donald Trump issued another statement claiming that Iran is seeking a quick deal. Trump said Iran is in a hurry to seal the deal. A few days ago, Trump issued confusing statements about the US-Iran war. He first said that Iran war would end after mid-term US elections.
However, the following day, he said that Iran would could either end before the mid-term polls or after the polls.
US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran wanted to reach an agreement with Washington quickly, while leaving open the possibility of US engagement.
Trump said on Truth Social that Iran wanted a deal “quickly and badly” but added that he would decide whether Washington would engage Tehran.
His remarks came as tensions continued to rise across the Middle East amid military confrontations involving Iran, Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis.
Saudi Arabia strengthens US security coordination
Meanwhile, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper in Jeddah, Saudi state media reported.
The two sides reviewed Saudi-US relations and discussed the latest regional developments during the meeting.
Saudi Minister of State and National Security Adviser Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban also attended the talks.
The meeting came amid escalating tensions between Yemen’s government forces and the Houthis, along with attacks targeting Saudi energy facilities.
Iran highlights BRICS and SCO cooperation
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation members were working to counter US unilateralism.
Speaking at a press conference, Baghaei rejected the idea that Iran could become isolated and said nations could defend themselves despite international pressure.
He accused Washington of undermining international norms through military action against Iran and violating the UN Charter’s restrictions on using force.
Baghaei also criticised the US approach toward the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
He said countries increasingly use multilateral platforms such as BRICS and the SCO to oppose US policies and develop practical responses.
Houthis claim attack on Saudi air base
Separately, Yemen’s Houthis claimed a large missile and drone attack against King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the operation targeted military facilities, while Saudi authorities reported that an earlier security alert had ended.
