Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has introduced a mandatory requirement for pilgrims attending Hajj 2026, requiring all participants to carry a Nusuk Card to access key religious sites. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the measure as part of broader efforts to regulate movement and enhance crowd management during the annual pilgrimage.
Under the new rules, pilgrims must present the Nusuk Card to enter the Grand Mosque and other designated holy sites. Authorities stated that the card will serve as the only officially recognised document to verify a pilgrimโs identity and legal authorization to perform Hajj.
Moreover, officials emphasised that the initiative aims to streamline operations amid expectations of large crowds. The Nusuk Card, a smart identification document, will remain valid throughout the pilgrimage period, from arrival in the Kingdom until departure.
In addition to identification, the card stores essential information, including personal details, medical records, and accommodation arrangements in Makkah, Madinah, and surrounding holy sites. Consequently, authorities can use it to coordinate services more efficiently.
The system also supports transportation management, allowing pilgrims to board buses and move between locations in an organised manner. Furthermore, it connects users to service providers and enables access to welfare and support facilities during the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims must carry the card at all times. In case of loss, they can request a replacement through their service provider, use a digital version, visit a Nusuk Care Center, or contact a unified helpline.
Officials confirmed strict enforcement of the rule to ensure safety and improved organisation.
