The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) offloaded two passengers allegedly travelling to Saudi Arabia for begging. The FIA Immigration Cell intercepted them at Multan International Airport on Monday.
According to officials, the passengers planned to travel on flight PF-702. Both allegedly intended to beg in Saudi Arabia while travelling on Umrah visas.
Passengers Linked With Three Agents
The passengers were identified as Waqas Ahmad and Najma Bibi. Both belonged to Lodhran and had previously travelled to Saudi Arabia, according to officials.
The FIA found that both passengers remained in contact with three agents. They allegedly contacted the agents for assistance with immigration clearance before their departure.
However, officials found inconsistencies between their stated income sources and travel arrangements. The passengers could not provide satisfactory explanations about their financial circumstances and travel plans.
FIA Intensifies Screening at Multan Airport
Following the initial investigation, officials shifted both passengers to the FIA Human Trafficking Cell. The cell will identify the alleged agents and complete the required legal formalities.
Meanwhile, the FIA Immigration Cell has intensified passenger screening at Multan International Airport. Officials are thoroughly checking travel documents and questioning passengers when necessary.
The agency said it would continue strict action against people misusing Umrah visas. Authorities aim to prevent passengers from travelling abroad for begging under religious travel arrangements.
The FIA has also warned suspected agents against facilitating such activities. Officials said they would take legal action against individuals involved in sending people abroad for begging.
The operation highlights continued efforts to prevent the misuse of Umrah visas. It also reflects tighter immigration checks against organised begging and human trafficking networks.
