Xiaomi has expanded its tablet lineup with the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro in China.
Both models combine high-refresh-rate displays, Snapdragon processors and large batteries. They also arrive shortly after Xiaomi introduced the larger Pad 9 Pro Max.
However, Xiaomi has not used its XRING O3 chipset in either new tablet. Instead, the Pad 9 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while the standard Pad 9 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro Display
Both tablets feature 3.2K LCD displays with a 3200 x 2136 resolution. They also use a 3:2 aspect ratio and support a 144Hz refresh rate.
The panels offer 12-bit color depth, DCI-P3 coverage, HDR10, HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision.
Xiaomi has also added several eye-care features. These include Circadian Friendly, Flicker-Free and hardware-level low-blue-light certifications.
The screens support wet-touch input, allowing users to operate the tablets even with damp hands.
The standard Pad 9 features an 11.2-inch display, while the Pad 9 Pro has a larger 12.5-inch panel.
The Pro reaches up to 1,000 nits of brightness, compared with 800 nits on the standard model.
Both tablets support Xiaomi’s magnetic pen and PC-style floating keyboard. However, Xiaomi sells the pen separately.
The Pad 9 weighs 485 grams and measures 5.75mm thick. Meanwhile, the Pro weighs 580 grams and measures 5.8mm thick.
Xiaomi also offers soft-light display variants of both tablets.
Snapdragon Processors and Software
The Pad 9 Pro uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. The 3nm octa-core chip reaches speeds of up to 3.8GHz and pairs with an Adreno GPU.
The standard Pad 9 uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Xiaomi previously used the same processor in the Pad 8.
Both models focus on productivity and content creation. WPS for Pad supports office work, while CapCut Pro handles video editing.
The Pad 9 Pro offers up to 16GB RAM and 256GB UFS 4.1 storage. The standard Pad 9 reaches 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Both models start with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Camera Specifications
The Pad 9 Pro features a 50MP rear camera with 4K video recording. It also has a 32MP front camera for video calls.
Meanwhile, the standard Pad 9 uses a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Both cameras support video recording up to 1080p.
The standard model retains several shooting modes. However, it misses some Pro-exclusive features, including the higher-resolution feed used for teleprompter mode.
Battery and Charging
The Pad 9 Pro packs an 11,000mAh battery with 67W wired charging.
It also supports 22.5W reverse charging.
The standard Pad 9 comes with a 9,720mAh battery and supports 45W charging.
Xiaomi Pad 9 Series Pricing
The Xiaomi Pad 9 starts at around $450 for the 8GB+128GB configuration.
The 8GB+256GB model costs around $495, while its soft-light version costs about $525. The top 12GB+256GB variant reaches approximately $570.
The Pad 9 comes in Silver, Spruce Green, Black and Ice Peach Pink.
The Pad 9 Pro starts at around $570 for 8GB+128GB storage. The 8GB+256GB version costs about $615, while the 12GB+256GB model costs around $690.
The 12GB+256GB soft-light variant costs approximately $720. Meanwhile, the 16GB+256GB model is priced at 4,999 yuan, or roughly $750.
The Pro comes in Silver, Spruce Green and Black.
These prices apply to the Chinese market. Xiaomi has not confirmed international pricing or a global launch yet.
If Xiaomi follows its usual launch pattern, the new tablets could reach international markets several months after their China debut.
