Award-winning concept envisions adaptive AI-powered experience beyond traditional apps
SEOUL: Samsung has introduced a new software concept called the Fluid AI Design System, showcasing its vision for the future of Galaxy smartphones and the One UI experience through artificial intelligence-driven interfaces.
The concept recently received recognition at the Red Dot Design Award 2026 as one of Samsungโs innovative AI-powered design ideas. According to the company, the Fluid AI Design System uses generative artificial intelligence and intelligent AI agents to interpret user behaviour, preferences and contextual signals in real time. As a result, it dynamically creates personalised interfaces tailored to individual needs and situations.
However, Samsung clarified that the Fluid AI Design System remains a design concept rather than a downloadable software update. The company has not confirmed whether it will become part of One UI 10 or any future software release.
AI-driven interface replaces conventional app navigation
Instead of relying on traditional app-based navigation, the concept proposes an adaptive interface built around intelligent floating cards. These cards can expand, shrink, rearrange or transform depending on the user’s activity and requirements.
For example, a meeting reminder could automatically display calendar events, navigation details, available travel time and relevant contacts within a single interactive view. Likewise, simple interface elements could evolve into more advanced tools whenever additional functionality is required.
Samsung said the concept reflects its broader strategy of integrating artificial intelligence into every aspect of the user experience rather than limiting AI features to individual applications.
Recognition highlights Samsungโs future AI ambitions
The Fluid AI Design System formed part of Samsungโs successful showing at the Red Dot Design Award 2026, where the company secured eight awards in the Design Concept category, including two prestigious “Best of the Best” honours.
Other recognised concepts included AI Beauty Mirror, Panorama UX, AI Kitchen, Spatial Tab and AI Home Companion PUCO, all designed to deliver more personalised and intuitive experiences.
Despite the recognition, Samsung emphasised that the Fluid AI Design System remains an early concept. The company noted that practical challenges, including third-party application compatibility, system performance and interface consistency, must be addressed before any similar technology could appear on future Galaxy devices. For now, the concept serves as an indication of Samsung’s long-term software vision rather than a confirmed product roadmap.
