LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Abdul Kareem on Thursday directed authorities to strengthen security for foreign consulates in Lahore. He also ordered enhanced protection for the residences and workplaces of Chinese citizens.
The IGP chaired a high-level meeting in Lahore to review security arrangements for foreign nationals living across Punjab. He stressed the need for tighter protection when moving foreign citizens. Consequently, police officials will increase vigilance and improve security coordination at sensitive locations.
Fresh Security Plan to Be Prepared
During the meeting, officials reviewed security measures for Chinese citizens and other foreign nationals residing in the province. They also discussed the ongoing repatriation of Afghan nationals and other foreigners staying in Punjab without legal documents.
AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat gave a detailed briefing on the current security situation. He informed participants about existing arrangements and highlighted areas requiring further improvement. Moreover, officials examined the effectiveness of coordination among different security institutions.
Illegal Foreignersโ Repatriation to Accelerate
Rao Abdul Kareem directed police authorities to prepare a revised security plan for Chinese citizens and other foreign nationals. He instructed them to develop the framework in consultation with senior police officers, the Special Branch, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and other security agencies. As a result, authorities aim to improve coordination and ensure stronger protection.
Furthermore, the Punjab police chief ordered officials to speed up the repatriation process for Afghan nationals and other foreigners living illegally in the province. He emphasized that all relevant departments should work closely to implement government directives efficiently. Meanwhile, security agencies will continue monitoring the situation to safeguard foreign missions, protect overseas nationals, and maintain law and order across Punjab.
