Punjabโs Virtual Center for Child Safety has successfully traced more than 77,000 missing children and reunited them with their families, marking a major achievement in child protection efforts across the province.
According to official figures, the recovered children include over 3,000 specially-abled children who had gone missing and were later located through coordinated efforts by the center. Authorities said the initiative has played a vital role in ensuring the safe return of vulnerable children to their homes.
The development comes only weeks after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally launched the Virtual Center for Child Safety. The project was introduced to strengthen child protection measures and curb incidents of child abuse and exploitation in the province.
Officials stated that the center uses modern technology and coordinated monitoring systems to track missing children and respond quickly to reported cases. As a result, authorities have been able to improve recovery rates and provide timely assistance to affected families.
Furthermore, the initiative serves as a centralized platform for collecting information, coordinating investigations, and supporting efforts aimed at safeguarding children. Authorities believe the project will further enhance the provinceโs ability to respond to child welfare concerns.
The successful recovery of thousands of missing children highlights the importance of technology-driven solutions in addressing child safety challenges. Meanwhile, provincial authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding protective measures and strengthening mechanisms designed to prevent child abuse.
Officials added that the center will continue working with relevant departments and law enforcement agencies to locate missing children and ensure their safe return. They expressed confidence that the initiative will contribute significantly to improving child protection standards throughout Punjab.
