Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Iran and Turkiye from July 3 to 6. The visits support Pakistan’s efforts to help end the Middle East conflict.
Sources in the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the official schedule on Monday. Meanwhile, the prime minister will meet the leadership of both countries.
Pakistan Seeks Regional De-escalation
During the meetings, PM Shehbaz will urge Iran and the United States to exercise restraint. The appeal follows the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding under the peace process.
The diplomatic initiative comes after renewed military exchanges between Washington and Tehran. The latest attacks highlighted the fragile nature of the Pakistan-brokered interim peace agreement.
The conflict began after the United States and Israel launched military operations on February 28. Consequently, the war disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and affected global energy markets.
Regional Security Takes Center Stage
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently called for a new regional security framework. He said regional countries should lead future security efforts without outside interference.
Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian proposed a similar regional security structure. He presented the idea during his recent visit to Pakistan.
Furthermore, Pezeshkian thanked PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. He praised their efforts to help secure an end to the conflict.
Pakistan continues diplomatic engagement with regional partners. Officials hope the upcoming visits will strengthen ongoing peace and mediation efforts.
