Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly condemned the recent missile and drone strikes on civilian infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. He expressed full solidarity with the UAE leadership and people during this challenging period. The attacks, which targeted key energy facilities, have raised fresh concerns about regional stability.
Pakistan Stands Firmly with Emirati Brothers
“Pakistan stands firmly with our Emirati brothers and sisters as well as with the government of the UAE at this difficult time,” PM Shehbaz stated in a post on X. He stressed the urgent need to respect the existing ceasefire so that diplomatic efforts can create lasting peace across the region.
Transitioning to the latest developments, the UAE reported Iranian strikes on Monday, including one on the vital Fujairah energy hub that injured three Indian nationals. Fujairah serves as a crucial oil export route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. UAE officials described the assaults as a dangerous escalation and reserved their right to respond appropriately.
Iran claimed the strikes came in reaction to US military actions. These incidents shattered the relative calm that had followed a Pakistani-mediated ceasefire between Washington and Tehran on April 8.
Calls Grow for Restraint and Dialogue
The attacks also drew swift condemnation from India, which urged all parties to stop targeting civilians and ensure free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Indian officials expressed readiness to support peaceful resolutions to the crisis.
PM Shehbaz’s statement highlights Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic role in the Gulf. By calling for dialogue over confrontation, Islamabad aims to protect regional peace and the safety of Pakistani communities living in the UAE. Many observers hope that strong international pressure will help restore the ceasefire and prevent further escalation in the coming days.
