An eleven-year blood feud between five prominent rival clans in Mianwali district came to an end on Sunday following a historic reconciliation ceremony. The grand peace settlement successfully resolved a deadly conflict involving the Kundi, Kalo, Bikhan Khel, Hazara Khel, and Yaro Khel families. Furthermore, local administrators confirmed that the bitter tribal rivalry had resulted in multiple tragic incidents of murder and attempted murder since 2015.
The initial violent clash occurred in 2015 within the jurisdiction of the Wan Bhachran Police Station. During that encounter, attackers killed two brothers from the Yaro Khel clan along with two close associates. Additionally, a member of the Kalo clan also lost his life during the initial outbreak of hostility. Another deadly ambush took place in 2018 near the City Police Station as members of the Kalo and Kundi clans traveled to a scheduled court hearing, resulting in five more fatalities.
However, persistent efforts by local peace activists and social figures successfully facilitated dialogue between the families. Consequently, organizers held the official reconciliation ceremony at Noor Market in Mianwali to formalize the peace agreement. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan attended the grand gathering alongside former Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan and other prominent regional leaders.
During the event, members of the rival clans openly embraced each other to signal a definitive end to the hostility. In a significant gesture of forgiveness, community elder Akram Khan announced that he completely waived the twelve million rupees qisas (blood money) settlement solely for the sake of Allah. Therefore, community leaders praised the landmark agreement as a vital milestone that will effectively protect future generations from the destructive cycle of revenge.
