ISLAMABAD: Shifa International Hospital became the first healthcare institution globally to simultaneously earn the Joint Commission International Clinical Care Program Certification for both its Acute Ischemic Stroke and Acute Coronary Syndrome programs, a hospital spokesperson announced on Wednesday.
Currently, only five other hospitals worldwide hold either of these two prestigious certifications individually. Therefore, this dual achievement places Shifa International Hospital unique among global healthcare providers for its excellence in specialized stroke and cardiac care. Furthermore, this milestone marks a historic first for Pakistan, as no other hospital in the country has previously secured this specific international recognition.
The prestigious certifications followed a series of detailed evaluations by Joint Commission International surveyors. Consequently, the audit team thoroughly assessed every critical stage of patient care, which included emergency response, rapid diagnosis, acute treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term management protocols. Healthcare experts widely regard Joint Commission International accreditation as the premier global benchmark for evaluating patient safety and clinical care quality.
According to hospital management, the achievement directly reflects the dedicated efforts of its multidisciplinary clinical teams. Specifically, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, quality management teams, and support staff worked collaboratively to satisfy the rigorous international benchmarks.
Shifa International Hospital Chief Executive Dr. Zeeshan Bin Ishtiaque described the dual recognition as a historic milestone for the institution. Additionally, he credited the entire hospital staff for their unwavering dedication, teamwork, and commitment to elevating healthcare standards in Pakistan. Thus, the hospital continues to solidify its position as a leader in advanced cardiovascular and neurological emergency care.
