ISLAMABAD: Pakistan conducted a successful training launch of the indigenously developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile on Thursday. The Army Rocket Force Command carried out the test, marking another milestone in the countryโs precision-strike capabilities.
Advanced missile strengthens deterrence
Military officials described the Fatah-4 as a highly accurate weapon system with a range of up to 750 kilometres. The missile flies at low altitude, hugs the terrain, and uses advanced navigation technologies including INS/GPS and Digital Scene Matching Area Correlation. These features allow it to evade enemy radar and defence systems while delivering a 330-kilogram warhead with remarkable precision.
Moreover, the successful test validates the technical prowess of Pakistanโs defence scientists and engineers. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the services chiefs congratulated the teams involved. They praised the dedication and commitment that made the launch possible and highlighted its importance for national security.
Focus on operational readiness
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the purpose of conducting this exercise was to improve the effectiveness of the troops. Defense experts consider the Fatah-4 as an important component for the Pakistani conventional deterrent force. It is a subsonic cruise missile with a length of 7.5 meters and can fly up to Mach 0.7 with the capability of deep-striking strategic targets.
It was unveiled by Pakistan in the year 2025, and thus shows consistent progress in defense manufacturing. Through developing new weapons domestically, Pakistan is trying to achieve self-sufficiency in critical aspects of national security. This also sends a signal of strength and technological maturity to all allies and rivals.
There are no doubts about the commitment of military leadership towards improving their armed forces. Citizens of Pakistan were proud when this development took place because it was a matter of national pride.
