ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s younger son Hamza Shehbaz has started political activities in Islamabad from Thursday. His portfolio, however, had not been revealed yet.
Hamza Shehbaz resumed political engagements in Islamabad by meeting incumbent and former party lawmakers at the PM House on Thursday. The meeting marked a renewed political presence for Hamza, who had remained relatively low-profile in provincial politics after the PML-N returned to power.
His cousin Maryam Nawaz became Punjab chief minister, while Hamza largely stayed away from prominent political activity in the province.
Party Leaders Discuss Constituency Issues
During the meeting, Hamza held detailed discussions with MNAs Saira Afzal Tarar, Jamal Shah Kakar, Hafizur Rehman Dreshak, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, and former MNA Khurram Dastgir.
Former senator Behramand Tangi also attended the meeting. The participants discussed political and administrative issues affecting their respective constituencies.
Hamza also chaired a separate meeting concerning the prime minister’s Youth Programme, signalling his broader involvement in government-related activities.
Political Role May Expand
The renewed engagements could indicate Hamza’s gradual return to active politics. His meetings with lawmakers may also help strengthen party coordination at the federal level.
Hamza has resumed political activities in Islamabad at a time when the government is facing problems such as PIMS tragedy, demand for new provinces, rift over AJK elections, rising petrol, gas and electricity rates.
