Nepal issued another alert about fresh floods in the Tibet region following a dam burst. Nepal urged residents of the region to shift to safer locations immediately.
Police urged security personnel, rescuers and civilians near affected rivers to remain alert and immediately relocate if conditions worsened.
The warning came two days after a glacial collapse triggered catastrophic flooding along the Nepal-Tibet border. The US Geological Survey attributed the disaster to the collapse.
Fresh Flood Threat Complicates Rescue
China also suspended rescue operations in the hardest-hit Tibetan area after renewed flooding risks emerged, state media reported.
A lake formed by debris from a mudslide began overflowing toward the Gyirong border area, according to Chinese broadcaster CCTV.
Meanwhile, Nepal’s disaster authority reported slightly increased muddy water flows in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa.
Officials warned that further flooding could threaten rescue operations along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers.
Death Toll Rises as Thousands Remain Missing
Nepali police said at least 469 people had died by Friday, while Chinese state media reported three additional deaths.
More than 1,400 people remain missing, including foreign tourists, trekkers and Hindu pilgrims visiting Mount Kailash.
Rescue team, so far, have discovered nearly 400 bodies and search operations continue to find out missing tourists.
