Military reports successful response to cross-border aerial incursions
Pakistan’s military said on Tuesday that security forces intercepted and neutralised four rudimentary drones that allegedly crossed into Balochistan from Afghanistan, accusing the Afghan Taliban administration of supporting militant groups operating from Afghan territory.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s air defence network detected the incoming aerial platforms shortly after they crossed the border. The military said security forces responded immediately using advanced counter-drone systems, successfully preventing the drones from reaching their intended targets.
The ISPR stated that the swift response demonstrated the operational readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces and ensured that all four hostile drones were neutralised without causing damage or casualties. The military added that the attempted incursions were effectively foiled through coordinated defensive measures.
Military criticises Taliban administration over cross-border security
In its statement, the ISPR alleged that the Afghan Taliban administration continues to provide patronage and support to terrorist organisations operating from areas under its control. The military argued that the reported drone launches reflected what it described as irresponsible actions that undermine regional security and stability.
Furthermore, the military claimed such actions appeared aimed at diverting attention from the challenges facing the Afghan population. It stated that the Afghan people continue to endure significant hardships under Taliban rule and argued that cross-border provocations would only worsen those difficulties rather than address internal challenges.
Pakistan has repeatedly called on Afghan authorities to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory to launch attacks across the border. Meanwhile, Islamabad has maintained that strengthening border security and counterterrorism cooperation remains essential for lasting regional peace.
The latest incident comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan following a series of cross-border security incidents in recent months.
