The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Pakistan on Monday dismissed reports circulating in Afghan media alleging that Pakistan carried out attacks on a university and residential areas in Kunar province. Officials described the claims as false and misleading.
Authorities deny allegations and call reports propaganda
In a statement shared on social media, the ministry responded to a report by TOLOnews, which claimed that Pakistani forces targeted Sayed Jamaluddin Afghani University and nearby civilian locations. However, the ministry firmly rejected the allegation, calling it a โblatant lie.โ
Moreover, officials stated that Pakistan conducts only precise, intelligence-based operations and has not targeted civilian infrastructure. They emphasized that no strike occurred at the university and labeled the reports as โfrivolous and fake.โ
Meanwhile, the ministry accused certain Afghan media outlets of spreading misinformation to divert attention from alleged support provided by Afghan Taliban elements to militant groups, including those referred to as Fitna al Khawarij.
Tensions persist amid cross-border security concerns
Furthermore, Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban to dismantle militant sanctuaries linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. Officials claim those requests remain unaddressed.
In addition, Pakistan continues operations under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched in response to cross-border attacks. Authorities reiterated that any military action is clearly declared and backed by evidence.
The ministry also alleged that misinformation campaigns receive amplification from external sources, further escalating tensions. It maintained that such narratives aim to undermine Pakistanโs counterterrorism efforts.
Consequently, officials warned against relying on unverified reports and reaffirmed their commitment to transparency in military operations.
Overall, the statement reflects ongoing friction between Pakistan and Afghan authorities over security issues and media narratives.
