Military responds to escalating border tensions
Pakistan Army carried out a retaliatory operation on Tuesday, destroying several Afghan posts in the Chaman sector after cross-border firing by Afghan Taliban and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants, according to security sources. Officials stated that troops targeted multiple positions, including Sarshan, Al-Marjan, and Edhi posts, along with other installations.
Moreover, security officials confirmed that the action followed repeated attempts by militants to infiltrate Pakistani territory. They emphasized that the armed forces remain committed to defending the countryโs borders and countering threats posed by militant groups and their alleged supporters.
In addition, authorities reiterated that Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq will continue until all objectives are achieved. The ongoing operation reflects Pakistanโs broader strategy to curb cross-border militancy and maintain security in sensitive border regions.
Civilian impact and continued clashes raise concerns
Meanwhile, tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have intensified over the past year. Officials attribute the strain to Kabulโs failure to restrain militant groups operating from Afghan territory.
Earlier, on Monday, Pakistani forces responded to firing incidents in the Angoor Adda area after reports of attacks targeting civilians. According to sources, three civilians, including two women, sustained injuries and received medical treatment in Wana.
Furthermore, security forces destroyed additional Afghan posts in the Zalolkhail area during the exchange. Officials claimed that militants have increasingly targeted civilian populations following setbacks during recent military operations.
Local residents have condemned the cross-border attacks and called for stronger defensive measures. Consequently, the situation remains volatile, with both sides facing heightened tensions along the frontier.
