Awais Leghari Calls for Easier Visa Rules
Pakistan and Russia are considering the launch of direct flights to improve travel, trade and tourism between the two countries.
Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said both countries should soften their visa policies. He said easier travel rules would benefit businessmen, investors and tourists.
He made the remarks while addressing a seminar on Pakistan-Russia relations in Islamabad on Thursday.
Direct Flights Could Boost Business and Tourism
Awais Leghari said Pakistan and Russia have seen major improvement in bilateral relations over the past two decades.
He said direct flights between Pakistan and Russia are currently under consideration. The move could make travel easier and help expand economic cooperation.
The minister said relaxed visa policies would open new opportunities for trade, tourism and people-to-people contact.
He added that stronger trade links would further improve diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Energy Cooperation Remains a Key Focus
Awais Leghari said Pakistan and Russia are also holding talks on investment in the energy sector.
He highlighted major projects, including the Pak Stream Gas Pipeline, as important areas of cooperation.
The minister said Pakistan needs stronger energy partnerships to support its long-term economic growth.
He added that both countries are committed to peace, regional stability and respect for international laws.
According to Leghari, continued trade and economic activity between Pakistan and Russia is essential for strengthening bilateral ties.
He said both sides must take practical steps to facilitate travel, investment and business cooperation.
