LAHORE: A major political scandal unfolded today after Lahore police registered an additional case against Muhammad Raza Dar, grandson of a prominent ruling party leader, following a hit-and-run collision that exposed a kidnapping plot. Investigators used the accident database to expand their probe into the network supporting the influential suspect.
The incident drew widespread public attention after the Defence Police Station booked five suspects for the alleged kidnapping, extortion, and sexual assault of a Spanish national and a Dutch national. The new case focuses strictly on the traffic collision. A local driver named Usman filed the complaint after a speeding vehicle struck his car on Airport Road and fled toward Bhatta Chowk. Usman dialed the emergency helpline 15 multiple times, reporting that the crash caused approximately 300,000 rupees in damages to his vehicle.
This emergency call inadvertently led police straight to the victims. Following the impact, the two foreign women escaped from the suspects’ damaged vehicle and ran into a nearby shop for shelter. Officers arrived shortly after the emergency alert and rescued both women from the scene.
Lahore Deputy Inspector General Operations Faisal Kamran confirmed that the women arrived in the city on June 29 and suffered abduction shortly afterward. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered authorities to ensure strict merit in the investigation, promising punishment for anyone involved regardless of their political status.
Using Safe City cameras, mobile data, and vehicle tracking, police arrested four suspects on July 2. The victims recorded their statements before a magistrate, completed their medical examinations, and subsequently left Pakistan. High-ranking legal experts confirm that prosecutors are now fast-tracking the trial to maintain international diplomatic trust.
