CJP again asks Govt-PTI to hold talks and adjourns the hearing till May 23. Chief Justice of Pakistan once again asked the government and PTI to resume talks about the upcoming elections.
The CJP Umar Ata Bandial remarked this on Monday while heading a three-member bench, comprising Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar hearing the ECP’s plea to review the order of April 14 about elections in Punjab on May 14.
The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of the case till May 23 (Tuesday) after issuing notices to the respondents in the case.
The respondents are the attorney general for Pakistan and advocate generals of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The CJP Umar Ata Bandial also asked the parties to give their arguments on the admissibility of the plea.
PTI’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar said, “The Constitution has been murdered and a faction of the country’s population of 100 million has been deprived of representation.”
The Chief Justice, however, adjourned the hearing saying that the court could not hear the case on an urgent basis keeping in view the situation (PDM sit-in) outside the Supreme Court.
