A massive fire tore through a village in Sohbatpur after an electrical short-circuit triggered a devastating blaze.
The incident occurred in Goth Haji Mehboob Ali Khoso near the Dargi area on Friday. As the flames spread rapidly, more than 50 houses were reduced to ashes within a short time.
Residents watched helplessly as the fire engulfed the entire area.
Houses, Food Supplies and Animals Destroyed
The fire destroyed homes along with large quantities of edible goods stored inside the houses.
Moreover, several animals also died after becoming trapped during the blaze. The scale of destruction left many families without shelter and essential belongings.
Eyewitnesses said flames quickly spread from one house to another because of closely built structures and dry conditions. Consequently, residents struggled to contain the rapidly expanding fire.
Residents Forced to Fight Fire Alone
Local residents attempted to control the fire on their own because no nearby rescue or fire brigade facility was available.
People used buckets of water and basic tools to stop the flames from spreading further. However, the intensity of the fire made rescue efforts extremely difficult.
Women and children rushed out of their homes to save their lives as panic spread across the area.
Several families escaped with only the clothes they were wearing.
Delayed Emergency Response Raises Concerns
Residents expressed frustration over the delayed arrival of emergency services after the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, fire brigade teams had not reached the affected area by the time reports emerged from the scene. Therefore, locals remained completely dependent on community efforts during the emergency.
The absence of nearby firefighting facilities also raised serious concerns regarding emergency preparedness in remote areas.
Families Left Without Shelter
The devastating fire displaced dozens of families who now remain without proper shelter.
After losing their homes and belongings, many affected residents were forced to sit under the open sky while waiting for assistance. Children, elderly residents and women were among the worst affected victims.
Several families also lost food supplies and livestock that supported their daily livelihood.
Residents Appeal for Immediate Relief
Affected residents appealed to the Balochistan government and district administration for urgent assistance.
Locals requested emergency relief, temporary shelter arrangements and compensation for families affected by the disaster. Additionally, they urged authorities to improve firefighting and rescue services in underserved areas.
The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of remote communities during emergencies.
Electrical Safety Concerns Grow
The fire reportedly started because of an electrical short-circuit, raising concerns over faulty wiring and unsafe electricity infrastructure.
Experts often warn that poor electrical systems increase the risk of fires, especially during extreme weather conditions. Therefore, regular inspections and safety measures remain critical for preventing similar tragedies.
Conclusion
The massive Sohbatpur fire destroyed more than 50 houses and left dozens of families homeless after a reported electrical short-circuit.
While residents continue waiting for relief, questions are growing over delayed emergency response and inadequate rescue infrastructure in remote regions.
