A Lahore court reserved its verdict on framing charges against Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt. The case relates to a complaint filed by Ayesha Sharafat. Additionally, four co-accused remain part of the proceedings.
Additional Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali Qamar heard the case on Monday. Rajab Butt appeared before the court alongside co-accused Jahangir and three others. Both sides completed their arguments during the hearing.
Defence Challenges Request to Frame Formal Charges
Defence counsel Rana Abdul Maroof Advocate opposed the framing of formal charges. He argued the allegations lacked sufficient evidence. Therefore, he urged the court not to indict the accused.
Meanwhile, counsel representing complainant Ayesha Sharafat presented opposing arguments. The lawyer maintained that available material justified framing charges. Consequently, he requested the court to allow the trial to proceed.
After hearing both sides, the judge reserved the verdict. The court will announce its decision at a later date.
Verdict Will Determine Next Stage of Trial
The upcoming ruling will decide whether Rajab Butt and the co-accused face formal indictment. If charges are framed, the case will proceed to trial. Otherwise, the legal proceedings may take a different course.
The matter remains under judicial consideration. Therefore, the court has not reached any conclusion regarding the allegations.
As the case remains sub judice, no findings of guilt or legal liability exist against Rajab Butt or the co-accused. The court will determine the next legal step after issuing its reserved verdict.
