KARACHI: Karachi is set to witness thunderstorms and rain next week, from September 14 to 16. The Pakistan Meteorological Department revealed this today.
According to the Met Office, a monsoon low was present over the northwest Bay of Bengal and nearby Odisha coast. The weather system is expected to move westward, potentially affecting several parts of Sindh during the coming days.
Rain expected across Sindh
The PMD forecast dust-thunderstorm rain with moderate to isolated heavy falls in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan.
These areas may experience the weather activity from the evening of September 13 through September 16.
Meanwhile, Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro may receive light to moderate dust-thunderstorm rain.
The PMD said these conditions could continue from September 14 to 16, with occasional gaps between rainfall spells.
Karachi weather forecast
For Karachi, the weather department forecast thunderstorms and light rain during the three-day period from Sunday to Tuesday. The city is expected to record a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius.
However, residents should remain alert as changing weather conditions could affect daily activities and visibility. The latest forecast indicates that the approaching monsoon system may bring temporary relief from Karachi’s prevailing hot and humid conditions.
The PMD advised residents to remain cautious during thunderstorms and follow further weather updates as the system develops.
