The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet officially approved the recent hiring of 2,400 contract doctors. They confirmed the process followed strict rules and transparent merit. Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi chaired the high-profile meeting. This session marked the final cabinet meeting of the 2025-26 financial year.
Resolving Doctor Recruitment Complaints
Consequently, Afridi addressed public complaints submitted through the CM Complaint Cell. He clarified that most grievances involved simple personal misunderstandings. Out of all submissions, only 21 complaints specifically targeted merit. Thus, a thorough review verified that the entire hiring process remained lawful.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister promised that the complaint cell will remain open. He wants to address any remaining unfair treatment quickly. Therefore, the province can handle its ongoing medical shortage without ignoring eligible talent.
Budget Implementation and Public Relief
Furthermore, Afridi stressed that the next three months are critical. The government must turn the newly approved provincial budget into visible public relief. However, he warned provincial departments about their performance metrics. Ultimately, grassroots public satisfaction must be the test, rather than polished presentations or social media activity.
Major Policy and Structural Reforms
In addition, the cabinet introduced several major structural changes. For instance, they closed the Transport Departmentโs official driving school. Staff will move to a newly created Driving Cell to regulate private driving institutions. Similarly, the government approved a key welfare measure. As a result, legal heirs of martyrs from the armed forces, police, and civilian sectors will now receive complete fee waivers for succession certificates.
The province will also transfer two kanals of state land in Dera Ismail Khan to NADRA for a new regional office. To improve fiscal oversight, lawmakers greenlit a Debt Management Committee. Likewise, they created a Digital Governance Enablement Unit inside the Finance Department.
Moreover, the cabinet cleared a 20 million dollar program to boost digital services and revenue lines. They also dedicated funds to legally pursue the provinceโs ongoing NFC case. Finally, after the session, Information Minister Shafiq Jan reaffirmed that the administration maintains zero tolerance for corruption.
