Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi was offloaded at Bacha Khan International Airport on Sunday while attempting to travel to Germany.
According to reports, the minister was scheduled to visit the University of Tubingen in Germany on behalf of the Higher Education Department. The trip was intended to support academic cooperation and educational engagement.
However, officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) stopped him from boarding his flight. Authorities did not immediately disclose the reasons behind the action.
Minister Cites Court Orders
Speaking after the incident, Meena Khan Afridi expressed concern over being prevented from traveling abroad. He stated that he possessed clear permission to travel under orders issued by the Peshawar High Court.
The minister said that despite the court’s directives, airport authorities did not allow him to proceed with his journey. He questioned the decision and called for clarification regarding the restrictions placed on his travel.
The development has drawn attention due to Afridi’s official status and the nature of the overseas visit. The planned trip involved participation in academic activities at the University of Tubingen, a leading educational institution in Germany.
Meanwhile, officials have not yet issued a detailed statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the offloading. Further information is expected after relevant authorities review the matter.
The incident comes amid continued scrutiny of travel restrictions and legal procedures related to public office holders. Observers are awaiting an official explanation from the FIA and other concerned departments regarding the minister’s removal from the flight.
