Actor calls for greater civic responsibility after sharing video from scenic route
Actor and television host Juggun Kazim has voiced concern over the growing litter problem on hiking trails between Murree and Nathia Gali, urging tourists to take responsibility for preserving Pakistanโs natural beauty.
Sharing a video on social media, Juggun highlighted plastic bottles, food wrappers and other waste scattered along the trail. She questioned why visitors continue to leave rubbish behind while simultaneously expressing concern about the country’s environmental and social challenges.
“We often complain about the condition of our country and wonder how things will improve,” she said. “However, meaningful change cannot happen unless we begin by taking responsibility for our own actions, including cleaning up after ourselves.”
The actor explained that she rarely uses strong words online but felt compelled to speak out because of the worsening condition of one of Pakistanโs most popular tourist destinations.
Actor links pollution to environmental challenges
Juggun also connected irresponsible waste disposal to broader environmental concerns, arguing that pollution contributes to changing weather patterns and climate-related disruptions. She noted that unusual seasonal conditions, including hailstorms during summer and warmer winters, reflect the growing impact of environmental degradation.
Furthermore, she reminded followers that enjoying nature also carries the responsibility of protecting it. She said people should value the natural environment they have been blessed with instead of damaging it through careless behaviour.
In the caption accompanying her video, Juggun appealed to travellers to adopt responsible tourism practices by carrying their waste until they find a proper disposal facility.
“We visit beautiful places to escape the mess. Letโs not leave our mess behind for someone else to clean. Take your memories, take your photographs, and take your garbage too,” she wrote.
Her message quickly gained widespread support on social media, with many users praising her for raising awareness. Several commenters echoed her concerns, saying poor civic sense and a lack of accountability continue to damage Pakistanโs tourist destinations, while others urged authorities and visitors alike to work together to protect the country’s natural landscapes for future generations.
