Chinaโs AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Company, manufacturing J-10C fighter jets, reported record earnings in 2025, while its first-quarter sales surged sharply. It reflected a rising global demand for its fighter jets after heightened regional tensions.
Revenue climbed 15.8 percent to 75.4 billion yuan, while net profit rose 6.5 percent to 3.4 billion yuan, both marking historic highs for the Chengdu-based firm. Meanwhile, first-quarter sales jumped nearly 80 percent year-on-year, signaling accelerating growth. The company attributed this improvement to a strategic asset reorganization that strengthened its jet manufacturing operations.
Rising global attention after the India-Pakistan conflict
The company gained international visibility after the 2025 clash between India and Pakistan, where its aircraft played a prominent role. Pakistan praised the performance of J-10 and JF-17 fighter jets, the latter jointly developed with China. Notably, the conflict marked one of the first real combat tests for advanced Chinese military aircraft.
Pakistan claimed it downed multiple Indian jets, including French-made Rafales, although India confirmed losing only one aircraft without further details. As a result, several developing nations, including Indonesia, Iraq, and Bangladesh, have shown increased interest in these aircraft.
Expansion plans and broader industry growth
AVIC Chengdu stated that boosting arms exports remains a priority. Earlier this year, it signed an agreement in Chengdu to expand aerospace production capacity, aiming to meet rising demand.
Meanwhile, AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Co. also reported solid growth, posting 44.7 billion yuan in revenue and a 3.7 percent profit increase. The firm, which produces the J-35 fighter, expects a new factory to begin mass production this year.
Both companies remain under US sanctions, yet they continue to expand their global footprint.
