Israeli strikes killed nine people across Gaza on Saturday, according to local authorities. Meanwhile, Israel claimed one victim was a Hamas commander.
A drone strike targeted the Jawazat camp in Gaza City. The attack killed seven people and injured 15 others. The camp shelters displaced residents amid ongoing conflict.
Local rescue teams responded quickly after the strike. Additionally, Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed receiving seven bodies from the attack site.
Drone Attack Hits Displaced Persons Camp
Witnesses reported significant destruction inside the camp. Medical teams treated several wounded victims throughout the day. However, authorities continue assessing the full extent of the damage.
Further south, another strike hit a tent in Khan Yunis. The attack killed 25-year-old Muhannad Othman Farwana. Rescue workers transported his body to Nasser Hospital.
Several injured people also arrived at the hospital. Consequently, medical staff provided emergency treatment to the wounded.
The Israeli military stated that Farwana served as a Hamas military commander. Furthermore, officials described the operation as a precision strike.
Wedding Preparations Turn Into Funeral
Family members said Farwana planned to marry later that day. His cousin, Mohammed Farwana, described the family’s shock and grief.
Meanwhile, another Israeli strike killed a 37-year-old man in southeast Gaza City. Local civil defence officials reported the death during evening hours.
Israel and Hamas continue accusing each other of violating the ceasefire. According to Gaza health authorities, at least 951 Palestinians have died since the truce began.
In contrast, the Israeli military reported five deaths among its personnel. Restrictions on journalists continue limiting independent verification of casualty figures.
A ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump remains fragile. Moreover, indirect talks on a second phase have stalled without progress.
