The Iranian kabaddi team has arrived in Islamabad for a joint training camp with Pakistan’s national kabaddi squad. The visit will help both teams prepare for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in 2026.
The sporting exchange will also provide an opportunity for Pakistan and Iran to strengthen their cooperation through sport.
Joint Kabaddi Training Camp Begins August 20
The joint training camp will begin on the evening of August 20 in Islamabad.
The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) is organising the camp under the guidance of Chairman Ch. Shafay Hussain and President Ch. Salik Hussain.
The camp will give players from both countries valuable competitive exposure. It will also allow the teams to train together ahead of the upcoming Asian Games.
Such sessions can help players improve their match preparation and understand different playing styles. They also provide coaches with an opportunity to assess their squads in a competitive environment.
Friendly Kabaddi Matches From August 24
Pakistan and Iran will also face each other in a series of friendly kabaddi matches.
The matches will take place from August 24 to 26 at 7pm. They will be held at Hamidi Hall of Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad.
The fixtures will provide both teams with additional match practice before their Asian Games campaigns.
For Pakistan, the matches will form part of preparations for the national team’s participation at the 2026 Asian Games.
Sporting Exchange to Strengthen Pakistan-Iran Relations
The visit is also expected to strengthen relations between Pakistan and Iran. Sporting exchanges can create opportunities for friendship, goodwill and mutual understanding between neighbouring countries.
The joint activities are intended to encourage people-to-people contacts between the two nations. They also highlight the role of sport in developing closer regional relationships.
The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation said the exchange would promote brotherly relations and mutual respect between Pakistan and Iran.
Pakistan to Showcase Sporting Potential
The joint camp also provides Pakistan with an opportunity to showcase its hospitality and sporting capabilities.
Hosting international teams can contribute to Pakistan’s positive image at national and international levels. It can also support the country’s efforts to promote its soft image through sporting events.
The PKF expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Sports Board, security departments and agencies involved in the event.
The federation also thanked sponsors for their support and cooperation in making the training camp possible.
Focus on Asian Games Preparation
The joint training camp comes at an important stage of Pakistan’s preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
Training alongside Iran’s national team will give Pakistan’s players valuable experience before the continental competition. The friendly matches will further test their readiness under match conditions.
The PKF said continued support from relevant organisations will remain important for the national team’s preparation.
The Pakistan-Iran kabaddi exchange therefore serves two purposes. It strengthens sporting ties between the neighbouring countries while helping both teams prepare for one of Asia’s biggest multi-sport events.
