KARACHI: A three-year-old child from Pathan Colony recently tested positive for HIV, raising fresh concerns over the growing number of infections reported in the area. According to medical reports, healthcare workers screened the child using three separate testing kits. Consequently, all three diagnostic tests independently confirmed the viral infection. This tragic case becomes the latest addition to a rising series of HIV infections reported among children in the local neighborhood.
Family members stated that the child previously received routine medical treatment at Valika Hospital. According to the parents, the child’s overall health began to deteriorate rapidly following that specific hospital visit. This alarming decline prompted the family to seek further medical examinations and blood tests. The parents eventually arranged a targeted HIV test, which unfortunately returned a positive result.
Following the diagnosis, the family alleged that severe negligence by medical staff at Valika Hospital may have contributed to their child’s infection. Currently, health authorities have not independently verified these serious allegations, and official investigators have not yet released definitive findings regarding the exact source of the transmission.
Meanwhile, official hospital sources confirmed that local doctors have diagnosed a staggering 107 children with HIV in Pathan Colony so far. Furthermore, these sources claimed that nine deaths linked to the disease have occurred within the affected area. The sudden spike in pediatric cases has sparked immense anxiety among residents, who now demand immediate government intervention, strict medical screening, and comprehensive safety audits of local healthcare facilities to prevent further viral outbreaks.
