Authorities Strengthen Monitoring and Screening Measures Nationwide
The Ministry of Health issued an alert on Saturday and directed the National Institute of Health (NIH) to take immediate precautionary steps following reports surrounding Ebola-related global health concerns, according to 24News HD TV.
A spokesperson for the ministry stated that authorities instructed the NIH to strengthen preparedness efforts and ensure the availability of laboratory testing kits to support early detection and rapid response capabilities.
Meanwhile, health authorities also placed border health services on high alert and intensified monitoring measures at key entry points across the country.
Officials confirmed that screening procedures for passengers arriving from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo had been strengthened at airports to improve surveillance and reduce potential health risks.
Furthermore, authorities said they continued monitoring developments closely while maintaining coordination with health institutions and relevant agencies.
Officials Urge Vigilance While Stressing Situation Remains Stable
Health officials warned that the early symptoms associated with Ebola can resemble those of dengue fever, creating challenges for initial diagnosis and treatment.
Consequently, medical professionals received instructions to remain particularly vigilant and carefully examine suspected cases displaying relevant symptoms.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health reassured the public that conditions within Pakistan remained under control and that there was no immediate reason for alarm.
Officials also stated that the NIH continued assessing developments and reviewing the situation through ongoing surveillance activities.
Additionally, the ministry advised travellers planning visits to African countries to seek medical guidance before departure and follow appropriate health recommendations.
Authorities further instructed provincial health departments and border services to maintain emergency preparedness and remain ready to respond to any potential public health situation.
