Pakistan will allow aspiring pilgrims to pay Hajj dues online for the first time through the countryโs 1LINK interbank network.
The Ministry for Religious Affairs announced the development as preparations for Hajj 2027 continue alongside ongoing registration for the pilgrimage. The new facility removes the need for applicants to visit bank branches for payment processing.
At the same time, authorities presented the move as part of broader efforts to modernise and digitise Pakistanโs Hajj operations.
The initiative aims to make registration and payment more convenient for pilgrims across the country and abroad.
Government Expands Digital Hajj Services
According to the ministry, the online payment system forms part of a wider plan to fully digitise Pakistanโs Hajj process. Registration for Hajj 2027 can also be completed electronically.
Authorities have made registration mandatory before applicants decide whether to perform Hajj under the government scheme or through private tour operators.
Officials expect the integrated digital system to simplify procedures and reduce administrative burden. As a result, applicants may complete more stages of the process remotely.
Online Payment System Linked With 1LINK Network
The Ministry for Religious Affairs confirmed that the digital payment mechanism has already been developed. โOn the instructions of the prime minister, an online payment system for Hajj dues has been developed,โ the Ministry said.
The ministry further explained how the new system will operate. โThrough 1LINK, it will be possible to deposit Hajj dues from home,โ it added. โThere will be no need to visit a bank to pay Hajj dues.โ
The introduction of online payments marks a significant operational change compared with previous years.
Hajj 2027 Registrations Cross 150,000
The ministry also announced that registrations through the online Hajj portal have crossed 150,000. Officials described the milestone as another step toward making Pakistanโs Hajj arrangements more accessible and efficient.
Authorities developed the digital platform in collaboration with the National Information Technology Board.
According to the ministry, the system allows pilgrims to complete the entire process online, beginning with registration and continuing through payment.
Overseas Pakistanis Also Included in Digital Process
The ministry said overseas Pakistanis will also be able to register and pay for Hajj from abroad. In addition, applicants will have access to application tracking through the online portal.
This feature aims to provide greater visibility throughout the process and reduce uncertainty for applicants. Pakistan concluded Hajj 2026 operations last month and has already started preparations for the next pilgrimage cycle.
The latest measures align with Saudi Arabiaโs advance registration requirements and support earlier planning for Hajj 2027.
