Egypt will host foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in Alamein on Sunday. The high-level meeting aims to strengthen diplomatic coordination on pressing regional challenges. Moreover, officials expect discussions to cover recent developments affecting Middle East stability.
Strengthening Regional Diplomacy
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty will welcome Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Hakan Fidan, and Ishaq Dar. The ministers will first hold a quadrilateral meeting before expanding discussions with senior delegations. Afterwards, they will address journalists during a joint press conference.
However, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry has not revealed the meeting’s official agenda. Nevertheless, the four countries have actively supported mediation efforts across the Middle East.ย
Previously, the ministers met during a diplomatic forum held in Antalya last April. Their continued engagement reflects growing cooperation on regional security and diplomatic priorities.
Regional Developments Shape Discussions
The Alamein meeting follows postponed US-Iran talks that were originally planned in Switzerland on Friday. Swiss officials confirmed the delay without announcing a revised schedule. Meanwhile, the White House cancelled Vice President JD Vance’s planned Switzerland visit.
Earlier this week, Washington and Tehran reached an agreement to reduce regional tensions. The agreement seeks to end fighting and reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, both sides planned a 60-day negotiation period on broader regional issues.
Those discussions also include Tehran’s nuclear programme and wider security concerns. The agreement further intended to stop hostilities in Lebanon. However, fighting has resumed between Israeli forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah fighters.ย
Consequently, Sunday’s meeting may focus on preserving diplomatic momentum despite renewed violence. Regional observers expect the ministers to coordinate future mediation efforts and encourage lasting stability.
