The Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, has extended the deadline for installing QR panic buttons in public transport vehicles, online cabs, and rickshaws. The new deadline is July 10.
The extension is part of the ongoing campaign to ensure transport vehicles comply with the mandatory QR panic button requirement.
Transport operators directed to complete installations
Rickshaw unions, online cab services, and public transport operators have been instructed to complete the installation process before the revised deadline.
According to the Lahore Traffic Police, the extension provides additional time for transport owners to meet the legal requirement.
Authorities have urged operators to complete the process without further delay.
Strict action to begin after July 10
The Lahore Chief Traffic Officer warned that strict action will be taken against vehicles that fail to comply after the deadline expires.
Therefore, transport operators have been advised to complete the installation before July 10 to avoid enforcement measures.
The campaign aims to increase compliance across the city’s public transport network.
More than 12,000 vehicles already equipped
According to Lahore Traffic Police, QR panic buttons have already been installed in more than 12,000 online cabs and rickshaws across Lahore.
Meanwhile, special traffic police teams are working in 45 sectors of the city to assist vehicle owners with the installation process.
These teams are helping transport operators complete the required procedures more efficiently.
New licensing centres established
Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi also announced the establishment of four new licensing centres.
The new facilities were introduced following requests from rickshaw unions.
According to the traffic police, the centres will help citizens complete registration and other necessary formalities more quickly.
Officials have encouraged all transport operators to use the extended deadline to fulfil the legal requirements and avoid action once the deadline passes.
