A major highway robbery was reported near Nooriabad in Sindh after armed men allegedly hijacked a truck carrying edible oil worth nearly Rs. 2 crore.
The incident occurred near the Commander City housing scheme on the M9 Motorway within the limits of Nooriabad police station in Jamshoro district.
The robbery has raised concerns about cargo security on major transport routes connecting Karachi with other cities.
Truck Was Travelling From Karachi to Sialkot
According to details shared in the police report, the truck had departed from Karachi port and was transporting edible oil to Sialkot.

Seven Armed Men Allegedly Carried Out the Robbery
The transport company manager, Sajid Jameel, lodged a First Information Report at Nooriabad police station.
In his statement, he claimed that seven armed robbers travelling in a double-cabin vehicle stopped the truck.
The suspects allegedly took control of the vehicle after threatening the driver and cleaner at gunpoint.
According to the complaint, the robbers then restrained both men during the incident.
Driver and Cleaner Left in Wilderness
The FIR states that truck driver Falak Sher and cleaner Ashraf were blindfolded by the robbers.
In addition, their hands and legs were tied before they were taken away from the robbery site.

Stolen Cargo Worth Around Rs. 20 Million

Growing Concerns Over Highway Cargo Security
The robbery has once again highlighted security risks faced by transport companies on long-distance routes.
Cargo trucks travelling between Karachi and northern cities often carry goods worth millions of rupees.
As a result, transport operators continue to demand stronger highway surveillance and faster police response systems.
Moreover, incidents involving armed robberies create fear among drivers and logistics workers.
Industry stakeholders believe improved coordination between motorway police and local law enforcement is necessary.

Authorities are collecting information about the suspects and the vehicle reportedly used in the robbery.
Efforts are also underway to locate the hijacked truck and recover the stolen edible oil.
