Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Moscow will act in ways that serve Iran’s interests following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in St. Petersburg. The meeting took place on Monday, April 27, amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. In addition, Putin confirmed he received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, wishing him health and success. He also expressed hope that Iran would overcome current challenges under its leadership.
Diplomatic talks focus on regional stability
During the discussions, Putin said Russia aims to support efforts that promote peace in the region. Moreover, he stated that Moscow would consider the interests of Iran and other regional nations in its approach to the conflict.
Furthermore, Putin emphasized cooperation as a pathway toward resolving regional instability. He noted that achieving peace quickly remains a shared objective between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi thanked Russia for its political support and reaffirmed strong bilateral relations. Before arriving in Russia, Araqchi visited Pakistan and Oman as part of a regional diplomatic tour focused on de-escalation and coordination. He also said discussions in Moscow would include strategies for addressing the broader Middle East conflict.
