Google is expanding its Quick Share feature to more Android smartphones, enabling broader compatibility with Appleโs AirDrop system. This update improves cross-platform file sharing between Android devices and iPhones, making transfers faster and more seamless for users.
The expansion marks a significant step toward bridging the gap between Android and iOS ecosystems.
Quick Share Brings AirDrop Interoperability
Google has upgraded its Quick Share system to work with Appleโs AirDrop on supported devices. This allows users to transfer photos, videos, and files directly between Android phones and iPhones without third-party applications.
The company introduced this feature during โThe Android Show: I/O Edition.โ Initially, compatibility was limited to select devices, but the rollout is now expanding across multiple brands and models.
Early Rollout Started with Pixel Devices
The feature first appeared with the Pixel 10 series. Later, Google extended support to older Pixel models, ensuring wider accessibility within its ecosystem.
After the Pixel rollout, Samsungโs Galaxy S26 series also received support. Additionally, some devices from Oppo and Vivo were included in early compatibility testing.
Currently, models such as the Pixel 8a and Oppo Find N6 already support the feature.
Samsung Devices Receiving Upcoming Support
Google has confirmed that several Samsung smartphones will soon receive AirDrop-compatible Quick Share functionality.
The upcoming supported list includes:
- Galaxy S25 series
- Galaxy S24 series
- Galaxy Z Fold7
- Galaxy Z Flip7
- Galaxy Z Fold6
- Galaxy Z TriFold
This expansion significantly increases the number of Samsung users gaining access to cross-platform sharing capabilities.
Expansion to Other Android Brands
Beyond Samsung, Google is extending support to additional Android manufacturers.
Upcoming compatible devices include:
- Oppo Find X8 series
- OnePlus 15
- Honor Magic V6
- Honor Magic8 Pro
This broader rollout ensures that multiple Android ecosystems can now participate in simplified file sharing with Apple devices.
No Official Timeline Yet
Despite the growing list of supported devices, Google has not provided a specific release timeline for all models.
However, the company has confirmed that updates will continue rolling out gradually across eligible smartphones.
Improved Cross-Platform Connectivity
The expansion of Quick Share reflects a growing push toward improved interoperability between major mobile platforms.
By enabling direct AirDrop compatibility, Google aims to reduce friction in file sharing and enhance user experience across Android and iOS ecosystems.
As more devices receive support, cross-platform connectivity is expected to become significantly smoother for millions of users worldwide.
