KARACHI: British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan Amir Khan revealed his plan to establish a Boxing Academy in Karachi. He said the initiative aims to identify and train talented young boxers while promoting the sport across Pakistan.
Furthermore, Khan revealed that the project will be launched with the support of the Sindh government. He said the academy would provide professional coaching and help aspiring athletes compete at national and international levels.
Sindh government spokesperson Nadir Gabol assured Khan of the provincial government’s full cooperation for the initiative. He welcomed the proposal and said authorities would support efforts to develop boxing infrastructure and nurture emerging talent.
Meanwhile, Khan has thrown his support behind England ahead of the FIFA World Cup semi-final against Argentina. However, England lost the match to Argentina. The winner of the semi-final, Argentina, will face Spain in the World Cup final after the Spanish side defeated France 2-0.
Khan has remained actively involved in promoting sports and youth development despite retiring from professional boxing. Moreover, he has frequently expressed his desire to contribute to the growth of boxing in Pakistan through training programmes and sports facilities.
The proposed academy is expected to create new opportunities for young athletes by offering structured coaching and access to experienced trainers. Consequently, officials hope the project will strengthen Pakistan’s boxing landscape and inspire future champions.
Amir Khan’s announcement comes as football fans worldwide eagerly await the second World Cup semi-final, with England seeking a place in the final against Spain.
